I know leather is tough, but how durable is your art work?
Some of my "testing," has included giving friends a piece of leather that I added color to and I asked them to place it on the driver's seat of their car. They would drive on it for a couple of weeks and I'd get it back. anything color medium that came back as faded or worn, was eliminated from use. Everything I use has withstood being left in the sun, rain and last year's ice storm. some leather cracked from freezing. That is it. WARNING: If you use one of my products say, on a jacket as a leather patch and you lean up against a cement wall and rub back & forth, you WILL tear it up. Use common sense, treat the leather as you would your good leather coat and all will be fine.

What is the difference between a patch and an insert ?
What is the difference between a leather patch & insert? This is my definition; A patch is sewed or somehow attached to a garment or other item. An insert can also be a patch, but its inserted into an area that has been cut from another piece of leather, cloth and so forth. Think of an insert as that piece of a puzzle that you insert into the pre-cut form on the puzzle board. You will notice that my patches/inserts have extra leather outside and around the image I have placed on the leather. That excess leather allows you to cut the leather to fit the area you want to use it on. The excess leather gives you an area to use for stitching or sewing the image onto an item. So, in my products, you can use it either way, as a patch or insert.

How Do I Get Your Leather Work Put On My Jacket ?
Generally speaking; The best method is to sew it onto your garment. Some people try to use different types of glue, don’t try that unless you know what you are doing. Glues will typically, not hold very well and not for very long. Sewing is the best way. You will need a leather needle, they are the big guns in the needle world and can take the stress, remember, you’re not sewing linen. On a jacket, you may need to remove the lining and you may be able to just remove a side of the lining to expose the leather. You can use fishing line or other strong thread for the sewing. Mark the location/placement of the leather to be sewed onto the garment with a piece of chalk or other non-permanent marking. When you start to sew, begin by pushing the needle from the inside of the garment to the outside, that leaves the knot on the inside of the garment and when you finish, you can tie the end off also, on the inside. Or, for a few bucks, a tailor who does leather work will save you time and frustration. Also, shoe shops can help, but be sure to pick the color thread you want them to use before you leave the garment. Make sure they understand where the leather is to be sewed onto your garment.
